Coral Sea, Cod Hole & Ribbon Reefs The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system, with diverse life forms, including over 400 species of hard and soft corals, over 4000 species of mollusc (sea shells) and over 1500 species of fish. Boarding from 5.00pm, for an 8.00pm departure. Dive the Ribbon Reefs and Pixie Pinnacle. Two incredible days of diving at Osprey Reef in the Coral Sea, 1000 metre (3000ft) vertical walls and 40metre (120+ft) visibility (occasionally 3 days are spent in the Coral Sea). The North Horn has the most reliable sharks in Australia including grey whalers, white and silver tips and schooling scalloped hammerheads (July). Schools of barracuda and large dog tooth tuna are always nearby. Night divers may expect to see rare flashlight fish as they swim in and out of crevasses. Dive the world famous Cod Hole with the resident potato cod, moray eels, giant wrasse and sweetlips. Explore Lizard Island, hike to Captain Cooks lookout or laze on the beach. A further 2 days of diving the Ribbon and Patch Reefs before disembarking in Port Douglas at 5.00pm. INCLUSIONS: All meals from breakfast on day 2, twin/double air-conditioned cabin (doubles are queensize), all linen and towels, (bring a beach towel), tanks and weight belt, knowledgeable and experienced dive crew. EXCLUSIONS: Cost of scuba equipment rental, alcohol, items of a personal nature, Great Barrier Reef Marine Park fees $12 AUD, payable onboard. DAN Insurance.
